Intersectional Feminist Praxis: A Framework for Socially Just Supervision
Chelsea Gilbert, Director of the Pride Center

There is a striking dearth of literature in regards to effective supervision within higher education; the little that exists indicates that supervisors tend to overestimate their own effectiveness as well as tailor their supervision style to their own needs rather than the needs of their supervisees (Tull, 2006; Renn & Hodges, 2007). In this forum, a framework for intersectional feminist supervision (Porter & Vasquez, 1997) in the higher education context will be introduced, building from literature on feminist praxis in supervision in the counseling setting. We'll discuss ways that we all can be a part of implementing a critical, intersectional approach within our own work.
