Nic Johnson
Associate Professor
Counseling Psychology Program
College of Education
Dr. Johnson's work has focused on defining rape culture in order to clearly articulate and address the mechanisms of our culture that excuse and perpetuate sexual violence. Based on previous theory and existent writings about rape culture, she proposed that the following themes create a rape culture: Institutions of Power, Systems of Oppression, Gender Ideologies, Rape Supportive Attitudes, Sexual Stigma, & Media Normalization.
